Kings Park is Perth’s pride and joy,
presenting a mix of untouched bushland,
botanic gardens, walkways and grassy lawns.
Take a walk on the Federation Walkway, relax
with a picnic and take advantage of free
barbecue facilities. Enjoy an impressive
wildflower display in spring or the outdoor
cinema in summer.
Within minutes of the city centre are
Perth’s beaches. There are nineteen to
choose from – some, such as Scarborough
Beach are great for
surfing, and others,
like Cottesloe with its
beachside cafes, are
ideal for families.
Shopping in Perth is fun and affordable.
You’ll find department and chain stores as
well as chic designer outlets, all with a
blend of design influences –
Aboriginal,
Asian, African, European.
Dining out in Perth is all about fresh local
produce, fine wines and a superb setting –
the warm climate encourages people out onto
the street and down to the water’s edge.
Restaurants and nightlife cater for all
tastes and budgets, in the city centre and
the suburbs.
Attractions in the
Perth metropolitan area
include the Perth Mint, Stirling Gardens,
Lake Monger, the Art Gallery of Western
Australia, Western Australian Museum,
Concert Hall, Cultural Centre, His Majesty’s
Theatre and the Institute of Contemporary
Arts.
The Swan Valley is only 20 minutes from
Perth by car or tourist coach and is easily
accessible by public transport (train and
bus) or river boat.
Organised tours are also
available offering full and half day trips
through the Swan Valley.
The valley became one of the first wine
producing regions in Australia and one of
the best known. There are some 30 wineries
in the valley ranging from small family
operations to multi-million dollar
businesses. Most have cellar door sales and
many also serve food. You can have fun
tasting and choosing a wine and ordering a
meal at the same time.
10 minute drive from
Perth is
Fremantle which has
become a cultural, historical and
entertainment mecca. It is a huge port and
has a busy industrial area around the docks
with containers piled high on the old
wharves. However, it has another side that
boasts a number of
galleries,
shops,
restaurants, cafes, pubs, and nightclubs
scattered throughout its quaint streets,
parks, river and coastal areas.
Services
and Transport
are in abundance.
